Trat Memorial day

          In the reign of His Majesty King Rama V, there was treaty between Thailand and France whereby Trat and Koh Kong were ceded to France, in exchange for withdraw of French Naval troops from Chantaburi.  Later in reign, in 1906, on 23 of March, His Majesty ceded Pratabong, Siem Reap and Srisopon to France in exchange for return of Trat and various islands on the right hand side of Maekong River.  So 23 of March is considered as  Trat Independence Day and special events are organize every year from 23 to 27 March in front of the City Hall with parades in honor of King Rama V, Trat historical and cultural exhibitions and a lot of fun, games and entertainment.
